     Welcome.  Holdem Tight began as a way to drive traffic to Velocity Books .com.  We have lots of free resources for learning how to play tight at Texas holdem.
     "Holdem Tight" might not seem like a good name, since folding quickly is so important in poker.  But "tight" refers to the only way to win consistently at holdem poker: play few hands, but very aggressively.  This is like the snake, which waits patiently, then strikes hard and holds tight.
     The difficulty with tight play is that waiting for good cards seems boring.  The game tempts us to chase impulses, but that is also what makes poker beatable -- if it were easy, everyone would play tight.
     The foundation of disciplined play is knowledge and practice. Knowing why you fold most of those inside straight draws, then practicing it, is what this site is about.  Eventually, tight play will become both natural, and more fulfilling, because WINNING IS MORE FUN.
