Reading flops from a distance

Your seat at the table is often far enough away to make reading the cards inconvenient.  The purpose of this drill is to train the eye to see not just the cards, but to interpret the board's possibilities as well as if it were under your nose.  (Explained fully in the Speed Reading article.)

For each set of cards, ask the following:

  • Do you have any pairs?
  • A straight or flush draw?
  • Could someone else have a draw?
  • What's the nuts?
  • Are there high cards present, which likely hit an opponent's hand?
